PAOK Soccer Gets Berbatov

first_imgTHESSALONIKI — Former Monaco and Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has signed a 10-month contract with Greek club PAOK.The 34-year-old Berbatov was released by Monaco in June. PAOK did not disclose details of the deal.PAOK finished second in the Greek league last season but has just one point from its first two games.The team is participating in the group stage of the Europa League.The 34-year-old will sign a reported one-year 1.6-million-euro contract plus bonuses with the Thessaloniki club which reportedly outbid rival offers from Aston Villa and West Ham United, Kathimerini reported.He joined Monaco in 2014 from Fulham and helped the French side reach the Champions League quarter-finals in April. He scored only nine times in 37 appearances last season as Monaco finished third in the French league.Berbatov is Bulgaria’s all-time leading goal scorer and has won the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year a record seven times.PAOK managed a third-place finish in Greece’s Super League last season.
