Police on the Corentyne, Berbice are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a farmer, whose body was discovered along the Corentyne Highway on Monday morning.Dead is Marlon Cox, 40, a farmer of Tain Village, Corentyne. Cox is a former Police traffic rank in the Guyana Police Force.The discovery of the body was made about 03:30h at Kilmarnock along the Central Corentyne Coast. The body bore marks of violence.Police said the injuries to the right hand and head are consistent with thoseDead: Marlon Coxsustained in motor vehicular accident.The dead man’s brother, Shackier Cox, who identified the body, is of the belief that his brother may have been attempting to cross the road when he was hit. His theory is based on the position the body was in when it was discovered.He is also of the view that his brother was hit by a huge vehicle. There was no broken glass at the accident scene.“I believe is a truck hit he down and drive away, because any other vehicle woulda smash up or had some glass or number plate on the road… Not even brakes impression,” he said.The body is currently at the New Amsterdam Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.Police are of the belief that Cox’s death is as a result of a hit-and-run accident.Cox, who planted cash crops at Whim for the past 17-years, had also been working as a labourer for another farmer in the same community.Up to press time, no one had been arrested in relation to the incident.
