There’s soon to be another Android flagship, and LG is hoping that their next big thing captures the attention of the world through their NYC press event today. It’s no secret that LG has been working on something big. Their last couple of Android phones have been good, but often limited by carrier restrictions and exclusivity. The LG G2 is expected to be their first widely available Android phone, being released globally at the end of August. The teaser videos from LG show off an impressively large display with very little bezel, and unique placement for buttons on the back of the phone under the camera.LG will not only be announcing the phone today, but plans to aggressively advertise the phone in the US. The goal from LG’s perspective is to gain love from the average consumer instead of the power user. Of course being the first phone to market with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor will also gain the phone some attention from the tech audience, but it will need more than hardware to succeed. LG’s issues in the past have typically been related to poorly optimized and poorly designed software, which typically looks clumsy when compared to the competition. We’ll know soon enough whether or not LG has addressed these issues with the G2.The stream for this event will start at 11AM Eastern, and we’ll be following up the event with some initial thoughts on the phone so stay tuned!
