Dickerson continued to show his fondness for the third inning with another RBI single in the frame against Valpo to put the Cowboys on the board in the 4-2 triumph. In the squad’s 18-8 victory over Southern Miss, he fueled a 14-run explosion in the middle innings, blasting a three-run home run in the fourth and roping an RBI single in the fifth inning. The Canadian born hurler retired 14-consecutive batters from the third to the eighth innings, marking the third start he retired at least 11 in a row. Hofmann faced four Panthers with runners in scoring position, fanning all four and never allowing a runner past second base. Hofmann (3-0) spun another Friday night gem for the Demons, striking out 11 batters over eight shutout innings, extending his streak of not allowing an earned run to 23 frames. Northwestern State (9-2) ran its win streak to seven games with a 10-8 Wednesday night victory over Louisiana and a 3-0 series-opening win over Eastern Illinois on Hofmann’s night. After dropping game two on Saturday, the Demons topped the Panthers 6-3 on Sunday to claim their third-straight weekend series. NSU travels to Baton Rouge, La., for a Tuesday-night tilt with Southern at 6 p.m. and hosts Abilene Christian for a three-game slate this weekend. McNeese (9-4) also picked up a pair of wins over Valparaiso on Friday and Sunday but dropped their first contest against Southern Miss on Saturday.
