The Federation of Road Transport Union of Liberia (FRTUL) is threatening to take her sisterly organization, the Liberia Motorcycle Transport Union, to court over what FRTUL calls disgruntled behavior of commercial motorcyclists, the latest of which included the burning of a 10-wheel truck in Ganta over the weekend.Speaking an exclusive interview on May 18 at the FRTUL Nimba Chapter office, FRTUL interim president for the county, Youjaa Korkor, said motorcyclists’ involvement in burning cars whenever accidents occurred is unlawful and the FRTUL will not hesitate to legal action against LMTU. “We are going to sue the LMTU because their members are destroying our vehicles and at the end of the day nothing will come out,” he said. Korkor said “Though human life is more valuable accident is not something that a driver means to let happen and therefore we should handle accidents through the legal means.”“We condemn those motorcyclists who allegedly carried out the burning of the car and we will not wait to see this action go unpunished,” Korkor warned. On Sunday, May 17 angry motorcyclists went on rampage in Ganta and set ablaze a 10-tire truck, following an accident with a motorcyclist about 9p.m.According to police, the truck marked TT-261 was on its way to Monrovia from Ganta when it collided with a motor bike at the Gbloryee Junction close to the UNMIL fence killing the motorcyclist.Ganta Police Detail Commander Sgt. Parker Y. Howelley told the Daily Observer Nimba that they tried to contain the angry crowd, but were overpowered to set the truck ablaze.“While we were talking with the cyclists to remain calm, they began stoning the car with all sorts of objects at the same trying to loot the truck.” He said when the pem-pem riders discovered that the goods on the board the truck were not items to be removed or looted (i.e., chicken feed), they diverted their action to burning the truck.Korkor explained that the FRTUL is there to protect all vehicles under their banner as well as all passengers. LMTU Nimba Branch officials were not available for comment. The body of Jerry Paye, the deceased motorcyclist, has been deposited at a local funeral home in Ganta, while a man haunt continues for the suspects, four of whom have already been arrested. The Bain Garr District Commissioner, Ms. Shelley Brown, has shouldered the responsibility as owner of the truck and is now in contact with the victim’s family for other arrangements, the police said. This is the third time for motorcyclists to set vehicle ablaze in Nimba County following similar accident. In 2009, a government jeep carrying some officials from Bong to witness a game in Grand Kru County was set ablaze after it instantly killed a motorcyclist in Ganta.Again, in 2012, a truck was set ablaze in Flompa (Ganta-Seclepea highway) after it collided with a motorbike and instantly killed the rider. In all of these cases, arrests were made but, so far, nothing has happened to those accused of perpetrating said actions.Meanwhile, the FRTUL has vowed to revamp activities at the local branch before the new administration can take office after May 30 elections. Korkor revealed that there is reduction in transportation fares, between Ganta to Monrovia from L$1,250 to L$1000. Fares have also been considerably decreased for commercial vehicles linking towns and cities within Nimba County.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)

The Warriors might have already anticipated it. The other 29 NBA teams might have already dreaded it.The Warriors will win the 2018-19 NBA championship. Perhaps so. They have won three NBA titles in the past four years. And if it wasn’t already overwhelming to stop four All-Stars in Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, the Warriors’ opponents will likely feel even more flummoxed with an added All-Star in DeMarcus Cousins. That does not mean, however, that the …
Most countries displayed a “remarkable stability”, the report says. The notable exception is Spain, which has struggled to emerge from its debt crisis.BRICS block Brazil (20) is the only country in the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) grouping to appear in the index’s “second tier”, rising incrementally between 2008 and 2011, but cooling slightly in the post-Lula da Silva era. Russia’s reputation is described as “noticeably volatile”, due in large part to the country’s governance positions. It is ranked 22nd. China’s ranking at 23 was affected by “noticeable losses on their investment appeal”, reflecting a trend across the world, Anholt said. India at 31 has experienced “considerable downward movements” between the last two readings, the report notes.South African success South Africa is the “strongest performer” of the nine countries selected to represent the Middle East and Africa. Nation Brands Index – Middle East and Africa: South Africans provided high rankings in the people, tourism and culture categories, but were more critical about areas such as governance and immigration/investment. The latter refers to a country’s ability to attract talent and capital, its economic prosperity, equal opportunity, and the perception that it is a place with a high quality of life. The country’s economic and business conditions are also measured.Bridging the gap The report notes that there remains a large gap between the top 20 nations (the “haves”) and the bottom 30 (the “have-nots”) when it comes to investment/immigration, the pillar that focuses on growth potential. “Developed nations still command the respect of the world when it comes to education quality, social equality, strong businesses and the overall quality of life,” the report says. The lower-ranked nations also lag when it comes to science contribution, creativity and quality products, scoring, on average, 15 points below the leading nations of the top 20. “Their governments, too, fall a distance behind the leading nations, scoring an average of over 14 points below,” the report notes. South Africa weakest score is in the area of governance, although it outdoes its BRICS partners India and China in this category.Tourism, culture, people The cultural reputation of a nation is considered to be among the most volatile of all indices, but South Africa’s standing in the culture category remains its strongest asset – the country is ranked 27th, up from 28 last year. South Africa slipped slightly to 34th in the people category, which measures people’s friendliness by whether respondents would feel welcome when visiting the country. South Africa’s rank of 34 for tourism is the same as the past two years.Selecting the countries The list of 50 nations is based on their political and economic importance in global geopolitics and the flow of trade, businesses, people and tourism activities. Regional representation and the diversity of political and economic systems are also taken into consideration. SAinfo reporter and GfK.com South Africa: 36Egypt: 41United Arab Emirates: 40Saudi Arabia: 45Qatar: 46Kenya: 47Botswana: 48Nigeria: 49Iran: 50 18 November 2013 South Africa’s global reputation has held steady in this year’s Anholt-GfK Roper Nation Brands Index, an annual survey of 50 countries regarded as playing important roles in international relations, trade and flow of business, and cultural and tourism activities. South Africa maintained its 36th position in the latest survey, which was released on Thursday with Botswana entering the rankings for the first time at 48, just ahead of Nigeria and Iran. For the survey, opinions from nearly 20 500 people in 20 core panel countries – one of which is South Africa – are polled online. The respondents rate 50 countries on questions in six categories: exports, governance, culture, people, tourism and immigration/investment. The index measures the power and appeal of each country’s “brand image” by examining its competence in these categories. The 2013 study found that South Africa was outperforming its counterparts in Africa and the Middle East in terms of reputation. Good news “Coming in the wake of the South Africa’s inaugural Competitiveness Forum, the 2013 Nation Brands Index results are very good news for South Africa,” Miller Motola, chief executive of Brand South Africa, said in a statement on Friday. “The National Development Plan is a strong plan, which, if implemented, will see us make strong gains in the important categories of governance and immigration and investment. We are already on track to achieve those goals, as set out in Vision 2030,” Matola said. While South Africa’s rankings have remained unchanged in exports (37), governance (40), tourism (34) and immigration/investment (38), its improvement in the culture pillar to 27 was “fitting”, Matola said, “since we are proud of our history and diversity and this is one of our greatest strengths”. Although South Africa showed a slight decline in the “people” pillar to 34, this trend was evidenced across most of the 50 polled nations. South Africa’s stable position as a nation brand is important because the way a country is perceived can make a significant difference to the success of its business, trade and tourism efforts, as well as its diplomatic and cultural relations with other nations.Top achievers The average scores attained by the study’s top 10 remains “virtually identical” to what they were in 2008, the report says. The US retains its top spot as the nation with the best overall reputation for the fourth year in a row. Voted as the most attractive country for immigration and investment for the fourth year running, the US’s position may be under threat as its score has shown one of the biggest falls of any nation since last year, the study’s founder, Simon Anholt, said in a statement. The survey’s top 10 for 2013 are:The United StatesGermanyThe UKFranceCanadaJapanItalySwitzerlandAustraliaSweden
Share Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Things are looking really good. The corn just keeps going. It has had the rain, the sun and the heat. We have been hot but it is just starting to pollinate. We’ve had some cooler nights and we’ve had enough rain that it is keeping those silks moist. It started tasseling right around the Fourth of July. Most everybody’s corn around here was tasseling when we were out running wheat. The silks are out and I think it could be an early harvest. I was talking to an older farmer and he said he hasn’t seen a year like this where everything is so far ahead. Normally an early harvest is not a good sign but everything is growing so fast. This is abnormal but good. The early beans did fine with all of the rain we’d gotten. Some of the smaller beans had some light green pockets but now they have grown out of it. We have a good crop growing right now.The wheat was what I thought it would be: average. Our first wheat was on some high ground and it went over 80 and I was really tickled. But as we got back closer to the home farm on better soil, lower low ground and later planted wheat, we went into the 60s. We had a 20-bushel difference based on that different planting date and high ground versus low ground. The last planted wheat around the 22nd of October didn’t tiller out well and we didn’t have the population we needed to get 100-bushel wheat. We got the double-crops in. They had great moisture and heat. They were up in five days and they look really nice.We are going to start spreading compost and lime on our last 40 acres of wheat ground. We’ll work that in and plant our cover crop. We’ll put in crimson clover, radishes and rye. It is beautiful and it gives those cover crops time to grow. We’ll have radishes that look like baseball bats by winter. We’re going to bale our second cutting hay this afternoon and it looks like we’ll have that up with no rain on it.With the rain and good growing conditions we have fought weeds. We have some grass and broadleaves coming that we’ll have to touch up. I think I’ll go ahead and put a foliar down with that and then we’ll be done spraying other than the double-crops.We are really not seeing much disease in the beans and the next thing I need to do is walk some corn fields. It is getting to be the time to think about fungicides on that. We have good subsoil moisture and if we can get another couple good rains this corn will be made.
9 Books That Make Perfect Gifts for Industry Ex… This new verison of Wikitude also marks the browser’s first commercial entries as users can find the nearest Startbucks, Walmart, Harley Davidson or BestBuy locations using the various World filters found on the applications new “Overview” home screen. Some of the Worlds, such as Last.fm events, Meetup Events and Outside.in content, are unique to Wikitude and are innovative inclusions for AR browsing. First released for Android phones in October of 2008, Wikitude was the very first mobile augmented reality browser to hit the market. Since then Layar, acrossair and hundreds of other mobile AR apps have upped the ante in the mobile AR space, and the latest iteration of Wikitude is in direct response to this competition.Wikitude’s updated features follow a continuing trend in mobile AR to consolidate a group of applications into a single AR browser-like experience. Mobilizy previously produced the AR application C2 YouTube for the iPhone, but has moved that functionality into Wikitude. Additionally, acrossair’s AR browser now includes features like Twitter and Wikipedia entries, which were previously features in their own independent applications. French iPhone app development house Presselite, which made waves with its Metro Paris Subway app, and other transit applications, has since rolled its applications together into the Bionic Eye application. It’s only a matter of time before these companies begin rolling games and entertainment, a growing AR sector, into their browsers for one-stop augmented reality experiences.Mobilizy, Layar, acrossair, and Presselite now have comparable AR browsing applications with Tonchidot not far behind with its more social app, Sekai Camera, the most popular AR app in Japan. Competition is certainly a good thing when it comes to mobile AR, and the deal-breaker in the coming months and years for most users will likely be the commercial content found on the applications. Which mobile AR application do you like best? Let us know what you think in the comments. In January, the Austria-based company Mobilizy updated the Android version of its mobile augmented reality browser Wikitude to include a new feature they dubbed “Worlds,” which are similar to the layers found in the alternatively popular Layar AR browser. On Thursday Wikitude 2.0 for the iPhone (version 4 on Android) was released on the iTunes App Store, brining these new Worlds to the iPhone.Previously, Wikitude only served up geo-tagged Wikipedia articles, or content created on the Wikitude.me online service. With the addition of Worlds, users can now also browse locally for Twitter posts, Flickr photos and YouTube videos – the usual AR suspects. Also, local search points-of-interest (POI) are available through Google Local Search, CitySearch and Qype, but actual search functionality is not included. 4 Keys to a Kid-Safe App chris cameron 5 Outdoor Activities for Beating Office Burnout Tags:#Augmented Reality#web Related Posts 12 Unique Gifts for the Hard-to-Shop-for People…

When he reaches maturity, he will be an important player for Barça and the France team. “But, clearly, he needs to mature. To listen to his body, to be better prepared to avoid injuries. In football, if you want to be the best, you have to get up, eat and go to bed thinking football. I think Ousmane will realise at some point that he has to do more.”
O.J. Howard VideoVideos of athletes going unrecognized when taking to the street and interviewing unsuspecting fans are always a good watch. This clip featuring Alabama tight end O.J. Howard is no different. Howard speaks with a slew of seemingly clueless Crimson Tide fans who have no idea who they’ve been approached by. Howard even asks one of them which tight end on the roster he thinks will stand out most next year and the fan cites TY Flournoy-Smith, Howard’s back-up. Howard hauled in 17 passes for 260 yards and no touchdowns in 2014. A gifted athlete, he should be a bigger factor in Alabama’s offensive attack this fall as a junior. If that happens, it’s unlikely he’ll be able to sneak up on any more fans.
